What Led Him to Pursue Certification through the National Institute of Accounting Technicians?
When asked what motivated him to pursue certification with NIAT, Hanz explained:
“I wanted to become more well-rounded as a business student. Marketing was my main focus, but I knew that if I wanted to stand out, I had to understand accounting too. NIAT gave me that opportunity. The certification was accessible, practical, and something I could work on while still in college. What really convinced me was seeing how the modules were designed for real-world application. I didn’t want to just memorize theories — I wanted to learn something I could actually use.”
How Did Earning His Certification from NIAT Impact His Career Opportunities or Confidence in the Field?
Reflecting on its impact, he shared:
“It made a huge difference. First, it boosted my confidence. Before, I felt unsure talking about accounting-related topics. But after passing the certification, I felt more capable and credible. It also helped me stand out during internships and freelance gigs. Clients and mentors saw that I had taken the initiative to go beyond what my course required. It showed them that I was serious, and that made them trust me more with financial tasks.”
What Advice Would He Give to Aspiring Accounting Professionals Considering NIAT Certification?
Offering advice to future candidates, Hanz said:
“Go for it. You don’t need to be an Accountancy major to take the certification. As long as you’re willing to put in the time and effort, you can learn everything step by step. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek help. The best part about NIAT is that it’s practical and designed to prepare you for real work.”
