Leaders Uncovered –  Kaiza Ruth L. Arguta, CB®, RCA®, CAT®

Kaiza Ruth L. Arguta, CB®, RCA®, CAT®, is a dedicated accounting professional who has demonstrated a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development. She earned her  National Institute of Accounting Technicians certification in January 2026, establishing a solid foundation in accounting principles and financial recordkeeping.

Arguta’s commitment to professional growth extends beyond technical training, as evidenced by her active engagement with the broader accounting community through her membership in the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. Her pursuit of multiple credentials and continuous upskilling demonstrates a dedication to excellence and a clear understanding of the importance of staying current in the accounting field.

Building a Strong Accounting Foundation and Career Edge

“I decided to pursue certification through the National Institute of Accounting Technicians because I wanted to build a strong and recognized foundation in accounting knowledge and skills even before I start my full professional journey. The CAT® (Certified Accounting Technician) certification focuses on developing essential accounting skills that are useful in real work situations and are respected in many industries.”

“I was also motivated by the idea that earning this certification would give me a competitive edge in the job market and help demonstrate to employers that I’m serious about my career in accounting and finance. Being part of a recognized program like this means I’m building technical competence and showing commitment to professional development, which can be helpful when applying for internships or entry-level roles.”

Boosting Resume Strength, Confidence, and Future Pathways

“Earning my certification from the National Institute of Accounting Technicians (NIAT) had a real impact on both my career opportunities and my confidence in the accounting field. First, the NIAT Certified Accounting Technician (CAT®) designation helped strengthen my resume, showing employers that I have specific accounting knowledge and skills that go beyond just classroom learning. This makes me feel more prepared and confident when I talk to interviewers or apply for roles related to accounting and finance.”

“Another important impact is that NIAT’s certification can provide pathways to further recognition and opportunities. For example, earning qualification and membership with NIAT may help open doors to further professional memberships or international recognition through agreements with global accounting bodies, which could be useful if I decide to pursue work abroad or advanced qualifications in the future.”

Advice for Aspiring NIAT Candidates

“If I were giving advice to aspiring accounting professionals considering NIAT certification, I would say it’s important to see it as a way to strengthen your foundation, skills, and confidence in accounting. The CAT® program gives you structured learning and a recognized title that shows employers you’ve invested in your professional development.”

“I’d also encourage them to plan their time and work experience carefully, because NIAT requires both exams and relevant experience to fully qualify — balancing study with real work helps you learn better.”

“Finally, stay persistent and focused: getting certified can boost your confidence and make you more prepared for job opportunities, even if it’s challenging at first.”

Value of NIAT Membership and Professional Conduct

“If someone is thinking about becoming a member of NIAT, I’d tell them it’s worth it to join because membership gives you access to professional support, learning opportunities, and resources that help you grow in accounting. NIAT members can benefit from things like job referrals, networking forums, newsletters, and discounts on continuing professional development courses, which can help you stay updated and connected in the field.”

“I’d also advise them to take membership seriously by following NIAT’s Code of Ethics and committing to learning — this helps build professionalism and credibility with employers and colleagues.”

“Lastly, it’s helpful to know that membership isn’t just about a title — it’s a way to access support as you work toward full qualification, gain experience, and eventually use the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) designation in your career.”

NIAT Certifications Earned and Next Steps

“I have passed the CAT1 level exam, which means I completed the Certified Bookkeeper (CB) part of the NIAT program. I also passed the RCA (Registered Cost Accountant) exam, which is part of the CAT Level 2, but I am not yet a member for that qualification. My next plan is to take the CAT3 exam, and if I pass it I hope to complete all three levels and finally earn the full Certified Accounting Technician (CAT®) qualification from NIAT.”
